My stamp storage has changed somewhat. Both in some of the products I use as well as the the furniture I store them in, as they have been upgraded. Mostly because (and since) stamp companies started producing the larger stamp sets (bigger than 4×6). I’ve found a solution that is not only pleasing to the eye but also protects my stamps from any light (sun light, daylight, light bulbs). There is nothing I hate more than a yellowed stamp!
If you are wondering how I organize (find) my stamps when I need them, click here.
This is currently how I store my stamps along with the storage products that I use.
Small Stamp Sets
I store my small stamps on these Stamp Storage Panels. They are like a laminated piece of thin chipboard. I remove the stamps from their packaging and apply them to these panels and then slide them into my Avery Elle Small Storage Pockets. They are the perfect size for my stamp panels and work great for me.
I store my small stamps out of the light, in 4 drawer cubes from Recollections.
Large Stamp Sets
For my large stamp sets, I store them in these Large Stamp & Die Pockets, which measure 5 1/2″ x 7 3/8″. I leave them on the acetate sheets them come on and just slide them into the pockets. I store them in a filing cabinet which I will share with you shortly.
X-Large Stamp Sets
I store my X-large stamp sets that won’t fit into my other pockets in these XL Storage Pockets from Avery Elle. They measure 6.75″ x 9.25″. I simply slide a sheet of white cardstock in the back so that the stamp set shows up easily.
My large and X-large stamp sets are stored out of the sun and light in a filing cabinet. This one to be exact:
Here is a look at the inside of the stamp cabinet.
This “stamp” cabinet is made very well and works perfectly for me and my always growing stamp collection. I store my large and x-large stamp sets in hanging file folders inside this cabinet. I currently have over 500 stamp sets and have plenty of room to grow between my 4 drawer cubes and this cabinet.

This is a great evernote explaination, however I still don’t know how you actually FIND things. So a set is listed in your evernote, and you know it must be in the big file cabinet because of the size, but then what? Is there a number in evernote that you put on the corresponding stamp set? Are they filed into groupings (birthday, trees, juvenile)? How are they arranged within the file drawers so that you can find them physically after finding them in your digital inventory?
Kat says
Yes they are all numbered. I put the number on the label along with the manufacturer and name of the stamp set. So when I want something, I just go to that number. SO simple 🙂

Thanks so much for sharing this blog post. I always seem to find myself “rearranging” my craft room for more optimal storage ideas:) I wanted to ask how you store your large stamps in the filing cabinet? You mentioned hanging file folders – but when you said you had over 500 stamps I am just not envisioning how these are all stored in there. Thanks for any more detail you can provide.

I have over 500 stamp sets but they are not all large. That cabinet will, however, hold a TON of stamps> I put four sets in each hanging folder.

What type of magnetic product do you used or your dies? Can I cut magnetic vent cover to fit Avery Elle sleeves?
Kat says
I use vent covers from Lowes
