Tis’ the Season! Handmade Christmas Cards by Kat!

December 7, 2015 by Kat 2 Comments

I have been busy making Christmas cards lately and although I haven’t had time to create any process videos, I wanted to share some of them with you today.  I’ll explain how I created each one but if you have any questions about any of the cards, or my process, let me know by leaving a comment or contacting me and I’ll get back to you.  I’ll link to all available products at the bottom of this post.

Let Not Your Hearts card

This first card was created using a free downloadable print file from Gina K Designs.  It is the sentiment you see on the card. I ran it through my Heidi Swapp Mini Minc machine and some gold foil and then using my circle Spellbinders die I cut the circle, and added a gold foiled frame using my stitched MFT circle frame dies.  To create the background I used this embossing folder by WRMK. The Poinsettia flower embellishment came from Hobby Lobby.

poinsettia peace card

For this card, I used the tag die from Mama Elephant’s Pizazz Pieces Dies to cut the green layer. I used some embossed cardstock from a 6×6 paper pad from Michaels for that layer.  The background (polka dot) cardstock is from the Yultide 6×6 paper pad by Pink Paislee.  The poinsettia was made using the MFT Poinsettia die.  I added some silver floss and a couple of silver jingle bells to the top of the tag layer for an added Christmas cheer!  The sentiment comes from a Hero Arts stamp set called “Lowercase Greetings“.

Be Joyful quilted christmas card

This card was so easy!  I embossed my cardstock using this embossing folder from WRMK (it’s my new fave can you tell?).  Then I gold heat embossed the sentiment and added some glitter ribbon from my stash and a poinsettia embellishment from Hobby Lobby.  To finish it off, I added a dot of gold stickles the the center point of the quilted designs. The sentiment comes from the SSS Big Scripty Holiday Greetings stamp set.

Merriest Wishes

This card was super simple as well!  I used the Heidi Swapp Oh What Fun 6×6 paper pad for my patterned paper.  I then die cut the background and tag layer using Mama Elephant’s Pizazz Pieces Dies.  Next, I cut the wreath and bow from the Tim Holtz Christmas Wreath Movers & Shapers Dies. I added some green and red stickles to the wreath and bow and added some stretchy red cord with a couple of silver jingle bells.  The sentiment comes from a Hero Arts stamp set called “Merry Christmas Messages“.

Christmas Card
card2
These last two cards were made quickly using stitched rectangle dies (see supply list for links) and mostly patterned paper from the Simple Stories Claus & Co 6×6 paper pad.   I did add some mini jingle bells and gold sparkle twine and a couple of stamped and die cut images from a retired stamp set by Stamps of Life called jolly 4 christmas. I used my Brother ScanNCut to die cut the stamped images and colored them with my copic markers.  As a finishing touch I added some Shimmer Dome stickers from DoCrafts.

I hope you enjoyed these cards and that perhaps they will give you some inspiration for your own cards!
