I-Top Brad Maker – Review and Tutorial

March 10, 2012 by Kat 2 Comments

Since some of my favorite tools are not new releases, I’m going to include my top faves in this list.  If it’s new, I’ll let you know, otherwise, it’s not new.

Imaginisce I-Top Brad Maker – I have the older version of this tool but I LOVE it so much that I imagine the new one is even better! If you don’t have this tool, run, don’t walk to your nearest scrappy store and pick one up! its’s so much fun and you’ll save so much money on brads and embellishments once you have one!  (You can also make buttons, badges, hair clips and magnets and more with the i-top tool!)

The i-top tool comes equipped to make 16mm and 22mm brads, but you will need to purchase the large carriage for the ability to make 28mm brads and the extra large carriage to make 34mm brads.

 Templates vs. Punches

The I-Top tool comes with templates for the 16mm and 22mm brads.   When you buy the 28mm and 34mm carriages, they will come with templates as well.  The templates look like this:

As an I-Top user, I must tell you that it is MUCH easier to use the punches to punch out the paper to make your brads than it is to use the templates.  So while it is not necessary to buy the punches, I highly recommended doing so if you can.

Here are the punches you may want to purchase.

Now to make the brads and magnets, etc., you will need the actual “brad daddies”.  Here are some of the many choices available to you:

Here are some other choices as far as what you can make with the I-Top Tool

  • Magnet Daddies
  • Twist Daddies
  • Badge Daddies
  • Button Daddies
  • Snap Daddies
  • Alligator Clips
  • Bobby Pins
  • Head Bands
  • Rings

I think I’m officially in love with it too!! I have always just passed up those kinds of gadgets since I have the Crop a Dial that I never use, but oohh I love this gadget. Thank you for sharing this video…I’m wondering how much I’ll have to spend though since I would want the punches too!
