Post #1 – My Favorite Scrapbooking Products Series: My Favorite Stamp Storage Products – Rubber Stamp Storage – Clear Stamp Storage

May 14, 2013 by Kat 4 Comments

I get a lot of emails and comments asking me where I got specific products on my posts and in my videos so I thought I’d start a series of posts where I share My Favorite Products and provide you with links to where I bought them or (if it’s cheaper) where you can get them.  We will start today with stamp storage.

Please note that some of these links may contain affiliate codes so that I receive credit for any purchases made through my link.  However, I will NOT link to any product that I have not purchased or will not purchase for myself.  The products I am listing are my personal favorite products and that’s why I’m sharing them with you.

Stamp Storage Products

I store my stamps in cd cases with inserts dvd cases without hubs and binders from Crafter’s Companion.  Here are links where you can get them:

1.  CD Cases – I used to buy them at Office Depot but found that they were less expensive from Crafter’s Companion.  They come with the index sheet that you can stamp your images on.

2.  CD Case Panels – I use the index sheet that comes in the CD cases to stamp my images on and then I add a little ATG tape to the front of it and stick in the front section of the CD case (so I can see what stamps are in each CD case).  If I’m storing clear stamps, I then cut a piece of cardstock and do the same for the back of the CD case. (That way you can store stamps on both sides of the panel, thereby getting twice as many stamps into each CD case.

Then I take a stamp storage panel and place my stamps on the front and back of it, and place it in the CD Case.  If you are storing rubber stamps, you will only be able to store them on one side because the CD cases are not thick enough to store them on the front and back of the panel.

3.  DVD Cases – I originally bought mine from Stampin’ Up but found them to be quite expensive so the next time I buy them, I will get them from Amazon unless something less expensive pops up before then!  Here are the search results on Amazon for  DVD Cases (without hub) for Rubber Stamp Storageor you can purchase them using the image below.

4.  EZMount Stamp Storage Binders – As you can see in this post, I use both the large and small binders for my stamp storage.  I use the large binders for most of my unmounted wooden stamps and the smaller binders I use with the magnetic insert sheets for my small die storage.  (We’ll get to that a little later).

This is the large binder that I store almost all of my unmounted wooden stamps in.

5.  Binder Insert Panels – These are the insert panels/sheets that go in the binder, this is what you stick your stamps to.  I have found that each binder holds three sheets filled with stamps front and back. I prefer the tabbed sheets but you can also get them without tabs.

Unmounting Wooden Stamps

1.  The first tool in your arsenal when you begin the job of unmounting wooden stamps should always be a good HotKnife Tool!  The HotKnife Tool cuts through the mounting foam like butter, yet will not cut through the rubber stamp!  It makes unmounting stamps a little bit fun even!  Here is a video I created last year showing how to unmount your stamps using a HotKnife Tool

The HotKnife Tool I use and recommend is made by Walnut Hollow and you can purchase it at Amazon.  They also sell the replacement blades (which are difficult to find) so you may want to grab a few of those when you order your HotKnife Tool.

2.  Secondly, you will need mounting foam.  I always use the EZMount foam.  I prefer the 1/8″ thickness but you can buy the very thin kind that is 1/16″ if you prefer.

3.  Last, you need a good pair of scissors to cut through the rubber stamps (if you are cutting them down).  I recommend either Tim Holtz Tonic Scissors or EZMount Craft Scissors.  They both work equally well 🙂

They also sell a starter kit that has the storage panels, mounting foam and EZMount Scissors.  I didn’t purchase this starter kit but I use all of the products contained in it.  It may be more cost effective to purchase the starter kit than to purchase everything individually.  It’s up to you 🙂

Those are my favorite products for organizing and storing my clear and rubber stamps.  I hope they help you in your quest for stamp organization!

I should add that I catalog my stamps in an inventory binder.  I will be working on doing an updated video showing my stamp inventory catalog in the very near future because my old video is outdated.  I just use cardstock in a regular binder that you can pick up at any store (walmart, office depot, etc) and stamp my images on it and organize them by category with little post it sticky index tabs.  If you have any questions about how to do this, just let me know. 🙂

Is there a product type that you would like for me to blog about?  Let me know by leaving a comment or contacting me via email.

Thanks for visiting today!
