The difference between regular light bulbs and Ottlite bulbs is absolutely amazing. The true colors that you see while using an Ottlite is just something that you cannot compare to any other regular light bulb. However, Ottlite lamps are extremely expensive so I’ve come up with a way for me to have the true color lite without the cost of buying a bunch of Ottlite lamps.
I bought a couple of regular lamps from Goodwill and I went to Joanns and bought some Ottlite bulbs for $5.99 with a coupon (or you can get them when they are on sale for 50% off!) and voila! My own Ottlite Lamps for a fraction of the cost. Here is the lightbulb I use in all of my craft room lights as well as in my homemade photo studio light box.
This lightbulb (click on it to buy it at Joann.com) costs $9.99 regularly but if you use a coupon you can get them in store for $5.99 or even less if you wait for a 50% off sale. They work in any lamps so there is really no need to buy those expensive Ottlites anymore! This bulb is 15W HD Compact Fluorescent Bulb with an Edison base.
They sell other bulbs with the Edison base and any of them will work in regular lamps. This one, however, is the least expensive and works just fine for my needs. Here is a link to all of the Ottlite bulbs that they sell at Joann.com (no affiliation) http://www.joann.com/search/_ottlite_bulb/. Just make sure that the bulb you choose has the Edison base and you’ll be good to go!
I hope that helps save you some money and lights up your craft room in true color light!
