Anyone who knows me well knows that a DSLR camera has been on my wish list for years and I am so grateful to my friend Kathleen, from the Stamping Enablers Group and my bestie, Maciana, for helping me finally fulfill this wish from my (very long and ever growing) wishlist LOL. I chose the Canon Rebel T5 am so excited to learn how to use it and improve my photography skills! From what I’ve read and heard from others, this is a great camera for those learning to use a DSLR for the first time. Lots of features and not as complicated as some other cameras on the market.
I haven’t learned all of the settings yet, and I imagine it will take me quite some time because I’ve never used anything more than a point and shoot, or my phone camera, but I’m confident I’ll be able to figure it out sooner or later! The first thing I want to learn about is aperture. How to focus in on a subject and blur the background.
I’m searching for YouTube videos and tutorials for beginners such as me that are interesting enough to keep my ADD mind focused (I have a hard time sitting through a whole tutorial!) so if you know of any, please leave a comment or contact me and let me know. I would really appreciate it!
Here is the very first photo I took with my new camera. My test subject is, of course, my St. Bernard and best girl, Abby 🙂 (Don’t mind all the boxes, I am still unpacking from my recent move).
The photo is already so much clearer than the photographs I take with my Samsung Galaxy S5 phone so I’m thrilled already! I’ll be taking a lot of photos in the near future and may start a pinterest board to post them too because I want to watch how the photos change as I learn more and more and I don’t want to bore you guys with them so I won’t post them all here!
Don’t forget to pass along any tips you may have or websites with information that can help me learn. Thanks guys!
