My Newest Scrappy Toys!

April 13, 2011 by Kat Leave a Comment

I haven’t posted in quite awhile but I’ve been really sick (stupid fibro as usual) but I do have a few new toys to share with you!  I managed to go out shopping recently and picked up the Zutter Round-It-All Corner Rounder at Tuesday Morning for $11.99.  Let me tell you this thing is awesome!  I had been planning on getting the Corner Chomper by We R Memory Keepers for quite sometime but hadn’t found it in any local stores and didn’t want to pay shipping (being somewhat frugal) and then I ran across this little baby.  Here is a picture and the description from Zutter.

The Zutter Round-it-All is the only corner rounder made to handle thick chipboard, acrylic, tin, and most other materials up to 1/8″ thick. Allows you to precisely round off corners with ease.

I’ve used it on chipboard and paper so far and it cuts like butter!  The corners are perfectly round unlike with my other corner punches (I have about five of the little ones) and I’m so happy with it.  So if you have a Tuesday Morning store near you, run out and take a look!

The other toy I’ve been playing with recently are Nestabilities by Spellbinders. I know, I know, they are nothing new but they are new to me.  I’ve seen them forever online but I finally broke down and bought some recently when Joann had a sale on a four pack for $31.99 with a 25% off coupon!  That’s a good deal!  Problem is, now I’m hooked and I want them all!

I use my nestabilities with my Cuttlebug.  Initially, I had some trouble cutting and/or embossing with the nestabilities in my cuttlebug but I finally came up with two solutions.

When cutting with nestabilities in a Cuttlebug 2 (new cuttlebug version) the following methods work for me:

Cutting:

A Plate + B plate + (paper/nestability) + B plate + 4 pieces of lightweight chipboard as a shim

Embossing:

A Plate + B plate + (paper/nestability flipped over) + embossing pad + B plate + 2 pieces of lightweight chipboard as a shim

Alternatively, if you’d rather not use the shims of chipboard as a shim, you can do what I did and go to Joanns.com and order a “C Plate” (cutting plate).  Then the sandwich is easier and just like what the instructions say for the regular Cuttlebug.

With a C Plate

Cutting:

A Plate + C plate + (paper/nestability) + B plate

Embossing:

A Plate + B plate + (paper/nestability flipped over) + embossing pad + B plate + 1-3 sheets of cardstock or 1 sheet of lightweight chipboard as a shim

I hope that helps someone.  If you have any questions, let me know and I’ll be happy to share what I’ve learned and what works for me.

I’ve also been playing with my Homemade Glimmer Mist Sprays but I’ll save that post for later because I want to take pictures to show you how to make it and how pretty they came out!

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you are having a fabulous day!
