Okay so I’ve been stamping for a number of years and just learned something today so I thought I’d share it with you, my blog subscribers and readers 🙂 I created the following card using Mama Elephant Pigment Inks:
This card sat in my craft room for over 24 hours and when I picked it up, the ink smeared on my fingers and the card. I tried to dry it with my heat tool but that didn’t work so I emailed Mama Elephant and asked what to do. They replied right away and recommended that I spray my card with a Fixative. They recommended Krylon 1300 Workable Fixativ Spray.
Now I could just add some clear embossing powder and emboss it, but I think spraying it with a fixative is easier and less expensive considering it’s the entire front of a card! So off to Amazon I went and ordered it! It dries completely clear and matte and you can’t tell that you’ve used it (except that your inks won’t smear!) So if you are using pigment inks and they don’t dry, especially Mama Elephant Inks, try the Fixative!

Dear Kathleen,
I was just looking for exactly that!
I love my Avery Elle Pigment Inks (only have four of them, but they’re so nice!), but I have the same issue with them. The ink has long since dried, but they leave “chalky” prints on my fingers and are prone to smudging. So I googled it and your post came up. Thanks for the tip, I’m gonna go to the store tomorrow and buy fixative! 🙂
Waving hi from southern Germany,
Nina
