Hello to all my wonderful readers! I know you are probably expecting the “What I like and don’t like from Winter CHA” Part Two post but I have some wonderful news that I wanted to share first (and then I’ll explain why I may not be posting the other blog posts for awhile LOL).
For exactly one year this month I have been searching for a home for my sons and I, which has been a long, frustrating, stressful and disappointing venture to say the least. This week, I found the “almost” perfect home for us and was approved and so we will be moving in a few weeks! The home is on the other side of the town we live in so my son will have to change schools but I’m not too worried about that, in fact, I’m a little excited because I hear they have a lot more programs to help kids than his current school. (My son has an IEP and needs extra help to get him to graduation). Not only that, but it is closer to the community college which I’m hoping and PRAYING that my other son will go to, to get his GED and further his education.
Here is a picture of the outside of the house.
The house has a security system which I LOVE since I am a single parent and real wood floors throughout which is great because of Abby (our St. Bernard). When you walk in the front door the large living room is on the right, a dining room on the left and then the kitchen and a sun room (CUTE sun room that is so bright with two walls of windows!) Then it wraps around to the stairs where there is a bathroom and what will be my bedroom. The ceiling is very high too which is great for my 6’4″ 16 year old LOL
Upstairs to the right is my younger son’s room and to the right is the other bathroom and then the master bedroom which I’ll be giving to my oldest son. (I don’t need all that room because all I do is sleep in my room!) The house is older but updated so it has so much character like built in drawers and cupboards in the walls and rounded arch doorways and in the living room (not sure what to call it so I’ll do my best to describe it), the middle of the ceiling is like “cut out” and has a wooden braided looking “frame” around it. I know I’m not using the correct terms to describe it but it’s just stunning. There is a white brick fireplace (that I will just use for decoration because the city has some weird rules about using fireplaces or something).
There is a deck on the right side of the house and a cobblestone area on the right side where the current homeowner has a firepit. Then there is a fenced in backyard that can be open or separated from the front yard. There is also a basement and garage but it’s unfinished and to be honest (kinda spooky) LOL The washer/dryer and extra freezer goes in the basement but I probably won’t go down there much because the stairs are VERY steep and it makes me dizzy trying to go down them. (Good reason for the boys to do the laundry right? LOL)
The front yard is full of lilac trees that I’m told smell wonderful in the spring, bushes and flowers and I think a couple of fruit trees as well. I don’t know anything about gardening so I’ll have to learn but I am looking forward to the challenge. The best thing of all about the home is that it has CENTRAL AIR CONDITIONING which is unheard of in Washington!
I will share pictures of the inside before I move in and after I’ve moved in along with a video tour of my new craft room! I haven’t decided where to put it yet because the sunroom is too small so I’m thinking since the living room is so huge and I don’t have a lot of furniture, I may make it a living room/craft room (that way I can watch tv while I craft LOL).
I am so thankful to God and my friend Elisha who helped me find the home and for all of my friends who have supported me on this long journey to finding this home and I look forward to many happy, healthy years there with my sons and our pets.
Maybe 2014 is going to turn out to be a new start for me and my family! Prayers sent and fingers crossed! (I even bought a lottery ticket this week! LOL)
I may not be posting much for the next month or so while I start to pack and move in and get settled but I’ll back (with bells on) once we are settled. Thanks so much for being a reader of my blog and for all of your support over the last year(s). I have some plans for this blog for the forthcoming year and hope to more of a regular poster so stay tuned!

It looks wonderful – very inviting. And your enthusiasm rings out in every word you wrote there. Good luck with the move, and God bless your new home for you, your boys and Abby. PS I think it might be a tray ceiling you are describing.
