Hi everyone! I finally have a crafty project to share with you guys. I didn’t take pictures during the process and I don’t have an extensive product list but I can tell you how I made it and where I got most of the supplies if that helps.
I wanted something special for Christmas for my best friend, Mona, who happens to live in Canada, approximately 2,227.5 miles from me. (TOO FAR!) So I thought I’d make her something handmade. I’m no expert at handmade crafts, I usually stick to scrapbooking and paper crafting so this was a little out of my area of expertise lol.
I found the wooden sign at Hobby Lobby (and used a coupon code!)
For Mona’s name in black, I custom ordered it from a company online. (I also ordered a monogramed sign for my parents for Christmas). I originally found them on a facebook ad and I loved the two items I purchased from them, as well as their reasonable pricing. I contacted them to give them my feedback and they gave me a coupon code to share with you! If you are interested in getting a custom made sign (or a pre-made sign) check them out HERE and use my coupon code “KAT” and you will save 10%on your order!
I glued the “Mona’s” Sign onto the Wooden sign using E6000 Glue.

Next, I found the little wooden paint palette and paintbrush in a set. I had to buy like 5 or 6 of each to get them but they were inexpensive and I’m sure I can use the others on other projects or share them with friends. To be completely honest I think I bought it on Etsy but I can’t remember now and I’ve searched my email for the link and can’t find it. However, I found the exact same ones HERE. so you can still get them if you want 🙂
Okay so The letters that spell “CRAFT ROOM”, I found at Michaels. They come in a pack and I only needed one pack because they have multiples of each letter. Here is the one I used but you can use any letters you want of any size.
Next, I wanted to color the paint palette and the letters but I didn’t want to make a mess with paints and wait for them to dry (I’m a lazy crafter), so I took out my Tim Holtz Distress Markers and went to town!. I colored each the background of the paint palette with a brown color and then didn’t like it so i used a grey color (probably weathered wood) on top if it and then I liked the color. Then I colored each little paint splat a different color, being sure to use her two favorite colors which are teal and pink. I colored the paint brush and tip of the paint brush and even the paint on the tip of the brush!. It looked a little flat so I took my Fabrika Decoru Transparent Drops (you could also use (Nuvo Clear Drops, Nuvo Crystal Glaze, Glossy Accents or Gina K Crystalline Drops) and with a toothpick, i put it over the splats to make them shiny.
Then I colored the wooden alphabet letters and I did the in alternating colors. Mostly because I couldn’t decide which of her favorite colors to use, so I decided to use them both LOL I had to color them each twice because the ink soaked into the wood a little and I wanted them darker.
I thought the letters were cute but “needed” something special so I sprayed them liberally with Shimmer Spritz. Now they sparkle like a million teeny tiny diamond specks.
I glued the paint palette, paint brush and letters to the sign using E6000 Glue. When gluing small items it helps to use something small like a q-tip to put the glue on the back of the embellishments to keep it from leaking out. You only need a tiny bit.
That’s how I made her sign! She said she loves it and hung it on her craft room door so that makes me happy! If you make a handmade sign like this, let me know, I’d love to see yours!
Thanks for stopping by today!
