Here at Kat’s House…

July 23, 2009 by Kat Leave a Comment

I’ve been SO busy lately! We had a garage sale this last weekend which was not nearly as successful as I had hoped so I decided to donate everything left to ARC.

Life is crazy as usual. My nieces are here (Dakota with me, Montana with Gramma), while my brother and his ex-wife are in Hoopa (sp?), CA. Her brother was murdered (violently) a few years ago and the person who killed him was being sentenced so they drove down there to testify. I do not understand how this can happen but the guy only got THREE years! Three years for violently shooting a young man in his early 20’s in face. I can’t tell you what they did with his body after in an attempt to hide it, but lets just say it is one of the most horrific acts I’ve ever heard of and it makes me sick to my stomach to even think about it. Yet, the murderer (with a VERY long criminal history) will basically walk after serving who knows how much time out of a three year sentence. There is no justice in this life.

Anyway, my older son has been in trouble again, I don’t talk about him on my blog but I can’t seem to find a way to keep him from doing things he shouldn’t be doing. I’m at a complete loss. I wish he was younger, I miss my little boy. I ALWAYS knew what to do in any situation when he was little! Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers. (Justin).

Tyler is having difficulties with daily activities and I’m seeking information on how to adjust our lives and our home so in an effort to help him. I think he needs visual reminders everywhere to remind him what to do with everything, how to complete things, put things away, etc. He is such a sweet character though and he has decided to start his own blog! (As long as I promise to type for him). He knows that I sometimes share things about him with my blog readers and the reasons why and when he said he wanted to do his own blog to tell people what life is like for him I was in SHOCK! I’m not sure if he will stick with it but we will see. I may give him “extra credit” for his homeschooling hours if he continues with it. (any incentive to get him to communicate/write!). I told him to come up with a name for his blog and let me know. He came up with it instantly. Another shocker, he’s calling it “Life as I see it”. That’s almost what I would have chosen if it were up to me, I expected him to choose “Sk8 4 Life” or something like that LOL

He really is so smart, I wish I could help him with what I call “wiring” issues that make his life so difficult. The older he gets, the more realistic it becomes that his life will never be “normal” or “average”, and that is a whole place of mourning I am not ready for yet. I am still holding out hope, although reality keeps getting in my way!

I am also learning WordPress because I’m working on my new coupon website (when I have time). My scraproom is still a mess and I haven’t made one single page in forever! I’m working on my house and to be honest couponing has been taking up a lot of time. I’m getting pretty good at it though. My last grocery receipts were incredible. I’ll have to post details for you but a few days ago I went shopping and I saved approximately 169.00 and spent 73.00. Can you believe that? I know there are people who get rooms full of groceries for less than two or three bucks but saving twice as much as I spend is pretty dang good for me! It’s a good thing too because my electric bill went up, it more than doubled! I got all excited thinking I’d have some extra money every month from couponing and then I get hit with a huge electric bill adjustment. (I’m on the budget plan where you pay the same amount every month and they adjust it once a year).

It’s been so horribly hot here! We don’t have air conditioning (nobody does) because you don’t usually need it but I have a tiny window air conditioner for those three or four days a year when it’s really hot and the poor thing has been working so hard that it isn’t even blowing out cold air anymore! It’s just too little for my living room. I know, I know, my friends and family in Florida are telling me to stop whining but hey, since I moved here 11 years ago, my blood has changed and I just can’t stand the heat anymore! Bring on the SNOW anytime!

Other than that, I’m still fighting with my mortgage company to get that situation taken care of, it’s an endless, repetitive drama, still dealing with the daily fatigue and pain of CFS and Fibromyalgia but am learning more about limits, it’s all a learning experience.

I have some pictures to share with you but can never find the time to upload them all from the camera and resize them all…does anyone know how to resize pictures in a “batch?” I know it sounds lazy but I have so many pictures and they are all HUGE and my computer is terribly slow! If you know of a program that can do that will you leave me a comment and let me know? I’d sure appreciate it.

I hope you are all doing well, especially my blog friends! I promise to try to get by your blogs to catch up on what’s new with you all SOON, summer is always busy for everyone so I’m hoping I’ll get a pass because of that alone lol

Don’t forget, tomorrow is Freebie Friday so come back and see what I’ve got for you!

Have a Happy Thursday!
