Kat’s Favorite Heat Embossing Products 2017

Kat's Favorite Heat Embossing Products 2017

My favorite Heat embossing products are the same as last year so I’m going to copy and paste last year’s post on this page.  All of these products are tried and true 🙂

Heat embossing is so much fun and creates such a beautiful result on any stamped image. Here are my favorite heat embossing products for 2017!

Heat Tools/ Heat Guns

After having tried multiple heat guns over the years my two favorites are:

Hero ARts Embossing Gun

Hero Arts/Wagner/Milwaukee Heating Tool/Gun:  This heat gun heats up quickly and gets VERY hot. It is definitely a professional heating gun.  I like the feel of it and the shape of the metal tip at the end which focuses the heat into a small area.  These are difficult to find however and have changed “brand names” a couple of times, starting at as Milwaukee and then changing to Wagner/Hero Arts. If you are looking for a heat gun that won’t disappoint you, this is definitely the one to get!

Marvy Uchida Heat Gun

Marvy Uchida Heat Embossing Tool:    A friend of mine has this heating tool and I was pleasantly surprised to see how very well it works the first time I used it at her house.  It heats up as quickly as my heat gun and melts the embossing powder just as fast. It is also a little quieter than mine!  If I were buying a new heat gun today I’d definitely consider this one!

Embossing Inks

Versamark embossing ink pad

Versamark – This is a very sticky, clear ink that stays wet for a long time which makes it perfect for embossing.  You simply stamp with it, pour your embossing power over the ink and then melt it with your heat tool.

memento luxe ink pads

Memento Luxe Pigment Ink Pads – When I want to emboss in color, I turn to these ink pads.  They are pigment inks which sit on top of the paper and stay wet longer than other inks which makes them perfect for embossing as well.  You simply stamp in the color you desire and cover with Clear Embossing Powder.

Embossing Powder Tools

To keep the embossing powder from sticking to areas of your project where you don’t want it, you will need an embossing powder tool. I have two favorites that I’m sharing with you today.  They both work equally as well as the other, it is strictly a preference whether you want a little “tool” type or the “bag” type which can be a little messy to store.  (Some people store the bags in little ziploc bags or a bowl)

EK Tools Powder Tool

The EK Success Embossing Tool Applicator is what I reach for the most.  It’s nice and neat and the powder stays contained in the bottle until you are ready to remove the lid and spread it on your project.

embossing powder bag

When I’m embossing over a large area, I reach for my Inkadinkado Embossing Magic Pad Powder Tool.  It is easier to prepare a larger surface using the powder bag than it is using the applicator tool.

Embossing Powders

I have a few favorites to share with you today. I don’t use a lot of colored embossing powders because I use Memento Luxe Pigment inks with clear embossing powder when I want to emboss in color but I do use quite a few different embossing powders which you will see below.  *I prefer super fine detail embossing powders because the smaller the granules, the smoother the finished result.

ranger super fine detail white embossing powder

Ranger Super Fine Detail White Embossing Powder – This super fine detail white powder is my “go to” when white heat embossing.  It melts smooth and cleanly, making for a beautiful heat embossed image.

ranger super fine clear embossing powder

Ranger Super Fine Detail Clear Embossing Powder – this is the same as the white only in clear.  Perfect for heat embossing over colored pigment inks and a lot less messy than using colored embossing powders (in my opinion).

ranger super fine detail gold embossing powder

Ranger Super Fine Detail Gold Embossing Powder – This is the most beautiful, smooth, gold embossing powder I’ve ever used and I absolutely love it!

ranger super fine detail silver embossing powder

Ranger Super Fine Detail Silver Embossing Powder – Again a beautiful, smooth, silver finish!  The super fine detail and the color is what makes these embossing powders so superior!

wow metallic platinum embossing powder

Wow! Metallic Platinum Embossing Powder -Wow! Is another of my favorite brands!  If you love platinum you’ll love this embossing powder, it’s simply gorgeous!

Judikins iridescent sparkle embossing powder

Judikins Iridescent Sparkle Embossing Powder – This photo doesn’t even BEGIN to do this powder justice!  It has the most beautiful, stunning iridescent sparkle  that turns any project into a sparkly wonderland!

wow super fine white pearl embossing powder

Wow! Super Fine White Pearl Embossing Powder – This embossing powder leaves a beautiful white pearl finish to your embossed projects. Absolutely beautiful!

Embossing Powder Storage

These products are also listed in the storage and organization section of this blog series, but I thought it’d be wise to include them here as well.

Sistema Klip It 3 by 6.7-Ounce Containers

Sistema Klip It 3 by 6.7-Ounce Containers – I got this tip from Jennifer McGuire, to store my embossing powders in these little containers.  Using a command clip on the inside of the lid, store the mini tasting spoons so you don’t have to dig through the powder to find your spoon!  It works like a wonder!

Mini Tasting Spoons

Mini Tasting Spoons – Store these on the lid using the clips below and use them to pour your embossing powder over your stamped images.

Spoon Clips

Command Decorating (Spoon) Clips – Use these clips to secure your Mini Tasting Spoons to the inside lid of the Sistema Klip It 3 by 6.7-Ounce Containers.

The products I mentioned in this post are all listed and linked below for your convenience. If you have any questions about anything on this page, please feel free to leave a comment or contact me and I’ll get back to you asap.
