In Kat’s Scrap Room: Ribbon Storage
At one time I had a slight obsession with ribbon and therefore, I have a LOT of it in my stash. I didn’t have the room to store full rolls so I came up with following two solutions for my rather large collection of ribbon. This is one of my ribbon drawers:
As you can see, the ribbon is stored two different ways . The ribbon in the front is organized and stored using Best Craft Organizer’s Spool n Store Ribbon Organizer & Dispenser.
Here is a photo of one of my dispensers filled with ribbon:
This is a photo of the entire Ribbon Organizer & Dispenser System:
The system consists of five dispensers which measure 6″x 1″. Each dispenser will hold six spools of ribbon up to 7/8″ wide and up to 3 yards long. As you can see, the dispensers fit neatly into a clear plastic (open) tray as shown in the photo.
The system comes with a spooler that looks like this:
You wrap the ribbon around the spool and start turning the handle until it’s all wrapped up. Then you pull it off and put it in the dispenser. It’s really easy and makes spooling ribbon fast!
Ribbon Cards
In my personal experience I have discovered that putting really tiny ribbon in the dispensers above are a pain so I use the Cropper Hopper Ribbon Cards shown in the photo below for those ribbons.
I store my ribbon cards in a Cropper Hopper ribbon box (that has been discontinued), but they will fit in any type of organizer that holds
The ribbon cards come in different sizes, I use the smallest size for my skinny ribbons and the larger sizes for my ribbons that are over 7/8″ wide.
Free Ribbon Card Cut Files
I have been unable to find the ribbon cards on line however, you can cut your own using your Silhouette die cutting machine! Here is a free cut file for two different ribbon cards courtesy of Bird’s Cards! (Click on the image to download the file from Bird’s Cards’ website)
If you don’t have a die cutting machine, you an always cut your own by making a stencil (drawing) the shape on chipboard and hand cutting it out. This way you can make it any size you’d like. This is what my ribbons look like stored on these cards:
These two ribbon storage solutions take up the least amount of space possible for this product and I can see everything I have in one glance. I love it!!! (It isn’t fun to sit still and spool and wrap all the ribbon, but once it’s done, it’s done forever and you don’t have to worry about ribbon storage anymore!)
If you have any questions about these storage solutions, please leave a comment or contact me.

Finally someone has a great idea. Not sure I want to cut all those card. I wouldn’t be about to use the dispenser because I have sooooo much ribbon. I ordered jewelry cards to use for the ribbon but not sure I like that idea. Haven’t come yet. The ribbon cards would be great if you could find them. I have tried to find them.
Thanks for the ideas.
