My Photo Light Box for Photographing Cards & Craft Projects

December 30, 2015 by Kat 4 Comments

I’ve had several different light boxes over the years, from homemade foam board ones to ones I’ve purchased and not been happy with.  Well I have had one for about six months now that I’m really happy with so I thought I’d share it with you. I get a LOT of questions about my light box and how I photograph my projects so I hope this post helps you.

First a couple of photographs of my current light box:

These are the products I purchased to create this box.

First, the box itself:

  • It is the “Neewer® 40x40cm / 16″x16″ Table Top Photo Photography Light Tent Studio Light Box/Tent” and I purchased it here on Amazon for $19.95 w/free shipping.  It comes with 4 Colored Backgrounds (Red, Black, Blue, White).

Next, the little lights on the side of the box shining through:

  • They are the “LimoStudio Photography Continuous 600 Lumen LED Light Set for Table Top Studio Portable Lighting Kit with Gel Filters, AGG1501” and I purchased them here on Amazon for $20.00 w/free shipping.

Last, the extra lights:

  • You may notice in my photographs that I have two silver clamp on lights. I bought these at Home Depot for about $8.99 each and added Ottlite light bulbs to them. You can get similar clamp on lamps here for around $12.95 w/free shipping.  The Ottlite bulbs I bought from Joann’s with a 40% off coupon (just make sure they have the standard screw in end) but you can also buy the here on Amazon (or you can use other lights of your choice).

I hope that this helps and answers your questions about my light box and how I photograph my projects. If not, just leave a comment and I’l get back to you asap!

I think I might “need” to go get some clamp on lights. I have basically the same set up minus those. Thanks for posting.

I have this same light box, but often wish I had more light than those two little guys at the sides, so what a wonderful idea to use clamp lights!!! Love the idea. Thanks for sharing.
