*Giveaway Details at the bottom of this post*
I was recently contacted by Picture Keeper, who asked if I would be interested in using their Picture Keeper device and posting a review here on my blog. As a scrapbooker, there is nothing more important than protecting and backup up my photos so of course, I said yes.
I was expecting to have to install and learn to use a new software (which I wasn’t looking forward to) but when I received my Picture Keeper (PK4) in the mail today I was presently surprised! There is no software to install, you don’t even need instructions! It was super easy and super quick! (Please note that I was not paid to write this review, it is my personal, honest opinion after having used the Picture Keeper device to back up all of my personal photographs on my computer.)
This is the product that I received:
PK 4 – Holds up to 4,000* photos
Cost: $29.99
*ESTIMATE – based on an average size of 1 MB per picture
I also received a redemption code so I could try out the iPhone app, which I will review a little later.
I opened the box, took out the Picture Keeper device which looks like a USB backup device, plugged it into my computer and when the program opened (nothing was installed on my computer!) this is what I saw:
I clicked on “Start Backup” and that was it! The Picture Keeper program found over 3000 photos on my computer and within minutes, every single photo was backed up on the Picture Keeper device! It was THAT easy! Now I don’t’ know about you but I am amazed because I expected it to take hours, I mean my photos are large files and it usually takes some time to move them around on computers and backups, etc. but this literally took less than five minutes!
I am thoroughly impressed with this product and would highly recommend it to any scrapbooker who wants to safeguard your precious (irreplaceable) memories. I’ll show you the different sizes that they offer in a moment but first, I want to talk about the iOS/Android app that allows you to back up the photos on your mobile phone.
Picture Keeper iOS/Android App Review
I went to my app store and searched for “Picture Keeper” and it came up right away (or you can go to the website to download it here). The cost is $4.99 and you will also need to download the Picture Keeper Mobile App Helper for your Mac or PC (which is free). To download the App Helper, click here. This little helper program makes it so that the mobile app can communicate with your computer. Once it’s installed (only takes a second), go to your mobile phone and click on “Start Backup” and voila! The app is now backing up the photos on your phone to your computer! You can also set it up to backup videos as well! I take a lot of pictures with my iPhone when I don’t have my camera with me so this is a very handy tool to have, especially for a scrapbooker!
All in all, I am impressed with the ease of use and how quick both the Picture Keeper device and the mobile app both worked, so much so that I signed up for their affiliate program and am now going to recommend it to everyone I know that scrapbooks! It’s well worth the small investment, after all, our pictures are priceless!

Kat,
I loved this review because I was searching for an answer to this problem. I was recently challenged with the task of finding my pictures after my computer crashed. I saved them in a Photo Software program I bought that had a Vault. Sounds like I had them in a bank deposit box with a password not a key. I happily installed all of the 14,000 gems in the program with facial recognition which took forever to help the program distinguish. About two weeks of any free time I had was sunk into this endeavor. Then 4 30 13 came and changed my thoughts about this vault of my gems. Yes my computer crashed within a few days of my completing this task.
So fast forward to today. I have spent most of my time searching for my pictures only to find no vault but a folder marked 4 30 13. I found photos jumbled to like a pile of tossed prints in this folder. Thankful to have found them. As of today I spent the 4th of July Holiday with guests all taking in the joy of our lake house while I rushed to finished sorting pictures form 2006 to 2013 to meet a deadline to order 5 photo books for a gift. I made it and they are now secure for the moment but Picture Keeper it is tomorrow. I too snap photos all the time and use my phone and different cameras on many occasions. I hope my comments can help others and I would love to be considered for the giveaway. I believe I have about 15,000 photos on the computer and new to scrapping I have a many double prints to put in books.that I am considering scanning for safe keeping, That would be more than 27 years of photos to log in and Picture Keepers would help me get a bit of control over a pretty sizable challenge. Thanks for your review and to Picture Keepers for sharing their product with you.

Great review! This looks like a very cool device – I use an external drive to back up my photos but it takes ages of me finding them all and copying them over, and I always worry I missed some. This sounds like it would erase all that hassle!
I’ll guess I have about 5000 photos, but I could probably delete a ton of them as they are duplicate shots of layouts, etc! I have liked Picture Keeper on FB. Thanks for the chance to win! jennifergrace (at) hotmail (dot) co (dot) uk.

Yes, I liked the Picture Keeper page and would LOVE to win this. I’m pretty maniacal about storing my photos in at least two different places before reformatting a memory card and usually end up tranferring them to DVD, but I have yet to figure out a good system. This sounds perfect! I’m sure there are several thousand between my PC and Mac.

I “Liked” PictureKeeper’s Facebook page. I don’t own a PictureKeeper, but I have heard wonderful reviews about them. I am guessing that I have about 5,000 pictures on my pc that need to be backed up.

I “liked” the PictureKeeper page. I bought one several years ago for my Mom, who’s a bit tech-challenged. (But I credit anyone in their 80s who’s still trying to learn new things.) I was really pleased with how it works. I didn’t even know it has an iPhone app. I’d love to win one for myself.
I was going to guess that I have about 2,000 photos, but I checked iPhoto on my Mac and I have 8,500! (Although some are duplicates.) Guess I need a PictureKeeper! Thanks for the chance to win.

I “Liked” Picture Keepers fb page, and was happy to do so. This sounds like a very useful product. I estimate I have between 2000 and 2500 pictures saved, but I’d be more likely to download with this product I imagine. Clever people; thanks for the opportunity to win!

Oh my gosh! This is awesome. No more searching, copying, pasting, etc. because this does it all for you & the best thing is that I can keep it in a safe place without it taking up so much space. I can also easily share my pics with family and friends. As for how many pictures I have – well I’m a pictureholic – I must have a few thousand and I’ll have more now that I have a photoscanner and will be scanning old non-digital pics that I have in album. Very excited about this. I liked their page. Thanks for the giveaway. Hugs, Lourdes
