Two Free, Helpful Tools for Scrapbookers

September 19, 2011 by Kat 1 Comment

I thought that I’d highlight two of my favorite programs that I use for scrapbooking in today’s post.  These can be used for numerous purposes but I mainly use them when I’m scrapbooking.  These programs are super easy to use and best of all, they are both FREE!  I highly recommend them and will give you links to the free downloads after each overview.

The first tool I want to talk about is called PhotoSheet.  It is offered free from Photo Utility (which also offers several other imaging tools for free on their website).  Let’s talk about what PhotoSheet does.  PhotoSheet allows you to take multiple images and combine them using templates into collages.  It also allows you to take 4×6 photos and turn them into wallet sized images.  It is great for scrapbooking, making mini albums and printing wallet sized photos.  You can also create your own templates in addition to the ones that come with the program, and you can download them off the internet as well.  (Some people charge a fee to download theirs).

When you open the program you will have a window that shows what your collage will look like (based on the template you choose), you simply open your photos in your windows explorer and drag it onto the window in PhotoSheet and voila!  it’s there!  My friend, Alma, created a video tutorial showing you how the program works and you can view it here. (link will open in a new window).

If you would like to download PhotoSheet, click here.

The next tool I’d like to tell you about is called “Font Viewer”.  This tool is handy for anyone who has multiple fonts as it allows you to view your fonts.  Sounds simple but it’s so helpful!  Let’s say you want to type out the name “Kat Scrappiness” but you don’t know which font you want to use.  You simply open the program, type in “Kat Scrappiness” and it’s going to give you a view of what “Kat Scrappiness” looks like in every font that is installed on your computer!  You simply scroll through the list and choose the one you want to use!  How cool is that?  Here is a sample image of what the program shows you.

You can download this awesome (FREE) program here.

These two programs save me so much time and hassle (and money) on a daily basis.  As you can see, they can be used by everyone, not just scrapbookers, but they are especially handy for those crafty gals! (and guys).  I hope that this short overview of these two programs helped you.  If you have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment.

Until next time!
