For those of you who read my previous posts regarding the homemade photo studio light box made of foam board, you will recall that I didn’t have any lights other than an Ott Lite and a regular lamp. Well my pictures were not coming out very well so I went to my local hardware store (Lowes) and purchased two lights with clamps, clamped them onto either side of my foam board, added some daylight light bulbs and whammo! Instant light for my light box!
Here is the photo studio light box with the new lights clamped on to the sides.
Here is a close up of one of the clamp lights.
And now the before and after pictures. This first picture was taken in the foam board before my new clamp lights. (I also lightened it up using paint shop pro.)
This is a photo taken after I added the clamp lights and I didn’t have to alter the photo or lighten it in any way.
The difference to me is huge! No more adjusting the photos with my paint program, they come out fine every time! Now on to the particulars. The clamp lights cost around $8.00 each and a pair of lightbulbs was around $6.00. The foam board to make the light box was $4.00 so I have a working homemade photo studio light box for around $18.00! Now THAT’S a good deal!
Here is a photo of the packaging from the clamp lights and the lightbulbs in case you want to know what I bought.
Here are a couple of other pictures I took today using my new and improved light box. I didn’t alter them at all.
Now I need to learn more about my camera and hopefully my photos will just get better and better! I hope this helps you if you are making a homemade photo studio light box! Thanks for stopping by!

Thanks for this info – I’ve had hit and miss success with taking photos. I don’t know how to lighten them in a program, so I just want them to come out right. You’ve given me hope, thanks!
