If it’s not one thing, it’s another :(

March 16, 2012 by Kat 1 Comment

So (as you may know), Justin has been on the suboxone treatment program for a few days now and has been doing really well (except for some uncomfortable side effects).  He went into the doctor today for his next visit and was told that they can no longer see him because he has DSHS.  He was denied medical benefits by DSHS but they approved him for something called ADATSA which is like drug and alcohol rehab treatment.  Unfortunately ADATSA doesn’t pay for suboxone treatment which is why we are paying cash for the treatment. (And it is NOT CHEAP!)

Well now the doctor says he cannot take cash payments from anyone who has ADATSA coverage either.  He says it is all beurocratic stuff and that we are stuck in the middle.  So he is going to give Justin enough medicine to last 2 weeks and then he’s on his own.

I need help!  If anyone out there knows or has any ideas as to other options that we may have PLEASE contact me and let me know.  This treatment was saving his life and when he runs out of medicine, he is going to go through hell with the withdrawal, not to mention the cravings for drugs will be back and I may lose my son once and for all.

We need help.  We need a suboxone doctor that will accept us with ADATSA coverage or else we need to get off of ADATSA so we can go back to this doctor.  Anyone with experience with this sort of thing have any ideas? I would REALLY appreciate your feedback.  Just when I thought I saw the light at the end of the tunnel…this happens. 🙁

I’m off to start making phone calls again, unfortunately nobody knows anything around my area.  There is such a lack of help for addicts, the lady I spoke to at the needle exchange in Seattle said that there is a waiting list for methadone that has 350 people on it and that people are dying before she can get them into treatment.  Why can’t we find a way to help people with this disease?

Kat, I just read your post hun. I’m so sorry you’re caught up with the B.S. of health care. I don’t know much about it, but I do have a lot of experience in the medical field and pushing papers. I also know a lot about dealing with insurances. If I can be of assistance, just email me or PM me on YT (PatsTreasuresNCrafts)You’re in my prayers and let me know if I can help. I will make calls or research online or whatever it takes to help. ~ Hugs ~ Pat 🙂 Good luck!
