Hi there! Yes I’m back three days in a row! The unpacking is slowing down and I’m starting to get back into the swing of things around here so I have some more crafty goodness to share with you.
I changed the color and theme of my scrap room and I wanted to make my own decor rather than buying it so I ventured into unknown territory…”altered art”, etc. I saw a letter “K” at the local craft store for $4.99 so I purchased it with the intent of altering it to match my new room. This is how it turned out. (It’s not perfect and isn’t quite what I had envisioned, but again, this is the first altered letter I’ve ever created and that makes me love it anyway!)
(Click on the photos to see them enlarged)
To make this altered letter, I first covered it with off white cardstock and mod podge, then cut patterned paper and mod-podged it on. Once that layer dried, I sanded the edges, and then inked them with Peacock Feathers distress ink by Ranger/Tim Holtz.
Then I added some bling along the side of the letter, and across the front, some paper flowers and leaves and lastly, I used a frame that I purchased at Michaels in the $1.50 bin, colored the largest gemstones with a copic marker to make them turquoise, added a picture of myself (from years ago LOL) and hot glued it onto the “K”.
All of the flowers, bling and other embellishments in my stash are so beautiful that I wanted to add more and more and more, but then I remembered that sometimes “Less is More”.
I hope you like my altered letter “K” which is now proudly displayed in one of the windows in my scrap room/craft room/living room right next to my printable wall art project I shared with you a few days ago. If you have an altered letter that you’ve created, I’d love to see it! Feel free to link to it in the comments section of this post.
