My favorites from last year are all still on my list, however, I’ve added a few new products that I have discovered and love to use in my craft room. I will link you to last year’s post here but here is what’s new to my list this year.
Gansai Tambi Starry Colors Gold Watercolor Paint – I was introduced to these gold watercolors at a watercolor class this past year and I absolutely fell in love with them. They are so creamy and beautiful and fun to work with. If you are looking for pearlescent and/or gold watercolors, this set is wonderful.
I was also given this set of Gansi Tambi Watercolors as a gift this year and just like the Starry Colors, these are creamy and wonderful. They come in a larger set of 36 as well but I have the 24 and it’s plenty for me. Again, these are so fun to work with, very high quality in my opinion.
Another coloring medium I’ve rediscovered this year are gelatos. I will list this in my art journaling section of this blog series as well but since it is a coloring medium, I wanted to include it here as well. Gelatos are a pigment stick that is creamy and can be used with or without water. One of my favorite techniques is to blend them using a damp baby wipe. They are absolutely beautiful and so much fun to work with. I bought the large set but you can buy them individually or in smaller sets. I recently bought the new Iridescent set and they are absolutely stunning!

Another of my favorites this year is the Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen. I used to use the Clear Wink of Stella which works just fine, however, once I tried the Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen I was hooked! It has so much glimmer in it! They come three to a pack so you will never run out (lol). Anytime I want to add shimmer to something that I’m coloring, I use this pen.
Speaking of Shimmer, I found and fell in love with this Sparkle Sheer Shimmer Spritz Spray (thanks to one of Jennifer McGuire’s videos!) To use this you simply hold it a few inches above your paper (the closer you are the more sparkle you get), and spray. You can let it air dry or dry it with your heat gun. It add sparkly goodness to any project! It’s gorgeous!
Just as a side note, my favorite cardstock to use with all of these mediums is Bristol Smooth Paper. It’s the best paper for watercoloring, gelatos, and coloring in general.
Want to see my other favorite coloring mediums such as colored pencils, copic markers and more? Check out last year’s post which remains the same this year!
All of the products I mention are listed and linked on the bottom of each post for your convenience. If you have a question about a specific product or something not listed in these posts, feel free to leave me a comment or contact me and I’ll get back to you asap.
