Hello there!
I have been so busy with real life stuff that my poor blog has been sitting empty and lonely without even a daily scrappy quote and I’m so sorry! I promise to do better…just as soon as I can catch up!!!!
A couple of things I can share real quick before I have to go to Costco and Albertsons and Walmart and….
Tyler’s Latest Accomplishment (and funny!)…
I’m always amused at some of the things he comes up with and though they may not seem outstanding or unusually funny to some, if you have a child with autism or aspergers, you will understand why I appreciate them so much (and share them with you from time to time).
Tyler has always loved having his back rubbed very lightly, since he was a toddler. It was one of the things that could sometimes calm him down. (Especially when his Gramma does it! I’m just a “fill-in”!) Well lately he wants you to massage his back instead of lightly rubbing it.
So the other day, I was on the laptop trying to teach myself about something and he laid across my lap and asked me to massage his back, so I did (half-heartedly), with my right hand while I surfed the web with my left (bad mom!). Apparently I had gotten so into reading whatever it was that my right hand stopped moving and he turns and looks at me with this half grin (that looked like sarcasm, which you KNOW is something kids with autism have a difficult time with), and he says “You know mom….My back isn’t gonna massage itself”. LOL! I stopped for a minute and when I saw the look on his face, I realized he had just made a cute, sarcastic remark and just laughed out loud (literally). He was SO PROUD of the fact that I found that so funny! It was such a sweet, cute moment. Of course, if I make a sarcastic remark, it does not make sense and is not funny to him but hey! One step at a time, right?
I’ve been extremely busy trying to come up with a new therapy program for our home and while I imagined it taking a day or two of research and a week or less to implement, it’s been several weeks and I’m still as lost as I was on day one! I did find an awesome iphone application called iRewards that is awesome and I wrote about that recently but I haven’t quite put the finishing touches on it yet…I need a few days ALONE with no interruptions to get things done that I can’t seem to do. (Like that’s ever going to happen!)
I’ve also been working on my house, working on a legal issue, trying to help my brother build a web site and get contracts together for his new partnership in an artist/band management company he is starting. Oh, and I’m also part way into redesigning my web template website and am waaay behind on making updates to my web hosting site. The coupon website I’ve been trying to build is still sitting out there waiting for me to finish I have great ideas and cannot yet figure out how to implement them myself (free or almost free) lol. I’ve tried several different scripts and programs, the latest being wordpress which is really cool and free because of my hosting business but I’m so used to blogger/blogspot that I’m afraid if I keep going with it, I’ll have to switch this blog over because there are so many things you can do with wordpress that you just can’t do with blogger! Plus, it doesn’t offer EVERYTHING I want for the coupon site. So, it’s on my TO DO list.
There are so many other things I’ve been working on that this blog would be a ten page detailed “to do list” if I told you but needless to say, I’m overstretching myself and while I’m working more hours than I care to admit, I’m accomplishing very little. I am not one of those people that can focus on ONE project at a time. I’ve tried it for 39 years, I just CANNOT do it! (Even with ADD meds LOL)
Anyway, I miss reading my friends’ blogs and scrapbooking, and all the fun stuff I like to do (like posting on here, twittering, facebook, etc.) but hopefully when Tyler gets back into school (at Grammas) soon, it will give me at least a little more time to try and catch up.
Who knows? Maybe they will come out with a magic pill that will fix my multi-tasking, ADD sort of issues! LOL
